A clear record helps you explain an account or website problem without repeatedly sharing sensitive information. Keep your notes factual and separate what you observed from what you assume happened.
Write a short timeline
Note the date, local time, page address and the action you attempted. Copy the exact error message. Explain what you expected and what appeared instead. Include a support reference number if one has already been issued.
Keep useful evidence safely
Save your original screenshots privately. Before sending a copy, hide passwords, one-time codes, full identity numbers, payment details and unrelated conversations. Check the browser address bar and notification banners for information you did not intend to share. Follow our screenshot privacy checklist before attaching the exported copy.
Use a verified support channel
Find the support channel through the website you normally use, rather than an unexpected direct message. Follow our support channel verification steps before sharing evidence. Do not install remote-access software or share a sign-in code to demonstrate a problem. Our account security guide explains further precautions. If the request came from an unfamiliar address, first review our website impersonation checks.
Track the response
Keep the original request, reply and any stated next step together. If the answer does not address the issue, follow up with the same reference and a concise explanation of what remains unresolved. A record supports a clear conversation; it does not guarantee a particular outcome.
A support request you can copy
Replace the bracketed fields with your own facts. Remove private tokens from page addresses and attach only a checked, redacted copy of any evidence. Never include a password or one-time code.
Subject: [Short description of the issue] Date and time: [Include timezone] Page: [Address or path, with private tokens removed] Action attempted: [What you selected or entered; no secrets] Expected result: [What you expected to see] Actual result: [Exact message or observable behaviour] Reference: [Existing support reference, if any] Attachments: [Redacted filenames, if needed] Question: [What you need clarified or checked]
Example: an error when opening a help page
Fictional example: “At 10:15 am Malaysia time (UTC+8), I selected Help from the account menu. I expected the help page to open, but the page displayed ‘Page unavailable’. The page path was /help/. I have attached a cropped copy showing the message, with my account name hidden. Could you confirm the correct help-page address?”
This describes an observation without guessing the cause. If the error changes or disappears, add a dated follow-up rather than rewriting the original record.
